CavityBatt (Product description)
Cavitybatt has been specially developed for use within steel frame structures, timber frame buildings and dry wall systems. Cavitybatt are manufactured using high quality Glasswool and are glass tissue faced on the one side for improved handling and rigidity.
Standards
Isover products are manufactured according to ISO 9001:2000.
Features and Benefits
- Life long energy savings
- Totally non-combustible
- Lightweight & easy to handle
- Inert - free of flame retardant chemicals
- Safe application and use
- Maintenance free
- High thermal resistance
- Does not absorb water
- Long product life - will not age
- Will not sag

Fire Properties
Non-combustible - Glasswool is tested to SABS 0177 Part 5 Class 1 fire index rating - tested to SABS 0177 Part 3All non-combustible products are acceptable in any application - no deemed to satisfy tests are necessary (SANS 10400)
Thermal Properties
Contributes to indoor comfort and contributes to life long savings by reducing heat loss/gain due to its inherent thermal insulation properties. A dry wall system correctly insulated will offer the same or better thermal properties than a conventional brick & mortar option.
Acoustic Properties
Offers exceptional acoustic properties & enhances indoor environmental quality by absorption of noise. Isover insulation reduces the sound transmission to and from a room or building. A dry wall system correctly insulated will offer the same or better acoustical properties than a conventional brick & mortar option.
Applications
- Steel frame buildings
- Timber frame structures
- Dry wall systems
- Designed for use in walls but may effectively be used in ceilings along the roofline.
Durability
- Odourless, inert and fully compatible with all standard building materials & components
- Will not accelerate corrosion with steel, copper or aluminium
- Will not sustain vermin
- Will not breed or promote fungi, mould or bacteria
- Non-hygroscopic
- Rot proof
- Dust settlement will not hamper the products performance

Ecological Information
Isover insulation products are made from glass mineral wool, one of the most environmentally friendly insulants available.
Sustainable
Isover insulation products are made from silica sand, the earth's most abundantly occurring mineral and a sustainable, infinite source.
Recyclable
Approximately 80% of the raw material used in the production of Isover products is recycled. The recycled material can be post-consumer glass (from housing) or waste glass for flat glass manufacture, which would otherwise go to landfill.
Environmental
The manufacturing process does not use or contain CFC's or any other damaging gases. In addition the unique compression packaging means more insulation in a smaller space - the result is better vehicle utilization, reducing the environmental impact of transportation.

Tools needed for installation
Batts are designed around the system for ease of installation, therefore minimal tools are required. A sharp knife/blade will come in handy for off cuts and for slitting batts for piping.
Installation instructions
- Firmly push the batt into the cavity with the glass tissue facing outwards.
- Batts are self supporting therefore taping, gluing or securing the batt will not be necessary.
- Piping/conduits can be embedded in the batt by making a shallow slit in the batt with a Stanley knife
Handling & Storage
Store in dry conditions and undercover. Store flat. Handle with care, especially on the edges and corners, which can be damaged if subject to sharp impact. Do not apply excessive pressure, for example by standing or sitting on the product, as permanent damage may be caused.
