Loose Wool
Description
- K - Wool, Loose - non-granulated, resin free loose Stonewool in bale form or 25kg bags.
- K - Wool Granulated/Friction grade resin free granulated loose Stonewool.
Application
- K-wool, Granulated - used as a fibrous filler to impart strength and bulk.
- K-wool, Loose - cavity fill insulation for packing to a specific density.
- General insulation, expansion relief, packing behind brickwork in furnaces.
- Thermal insulation of ovens and other industrial equipment.
- Cryogenic applications - refrigerated cargo holds, oxygen plant, cold boxes
- Acoustic insulation of motor vehicle and other type of silencers.
Suited for packing into cavities of irregular dimensions, especially where preformed insulation cannot be fitted.
Operating Temperature
K-wool Loose: Temperature range = -200°C to 850°C
Fire Performance
- Non-combustible - Tested to SABS 0177 Part V
Acoustic Performance
Will provide effective acoustical insulation where there is need to reduce noise levels from pipe work. Actual performance varies with density, thickness and surface finish.
Thermal Conductivity
The amount of loose wool installed will determine the density of the Stonewool, which in turn will determine the thermal conductivity.
Biosolubility
The IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer), part of the world health organization, has classified Stonewool as a group 3 product - not classifiable as to carcinogenicity to humans. The fibres from Isover Stonewool products are bio-soluble and will dissolve in lung fluid and pass through the body naturally.
Permanence
Is rot-proof, odourless, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.
Chloride Content
Contains inherently low levels of water-leachable chlorides, typically less than 5 ppm and will neither cause nor promote corrosion.
Thermal Calculations
The thermal conductivity of the installed loose wool will be similar to other Stonewool products of the same density and thickness.
